Lesson 6 of 16
ふ is fu, softer than a hard f: blow the sound out through your lips. Also, は is read wa when it marks the topic of a sentence, but here you are learning its ha sound.
Pronunciation
h is a gentle breath. ふ is not an English f: blow air softly between your lips, as if cooling soup, then add u. ひ is a breathy hee: shape your mouth for ee before you breathe out.
Reading tips
は and ほ differ by one bar: ほ has an extra horizontal stroke on the right.
へ is a flat roof, while く is a sharper “<”. へ is also read e when it marks a direction in a sentence.

A Hiking boot with laces. Say "ha".

A Heel, the back of your foot. Say "hee".

Mount Fuji, with the kana as its snowy peak.

A Headband: the kana is the top of his head. Say "heh".

A Hotel room: the door has number 27 on it.
